CALL TO ACTION IN THE COMMUNITY
As residents of Gary, Indiana we all have a duty to help keep our own communities safe. We owe it to ourselves, as well as our friends and family to be proactive in the safety of our community.
It is time for a Call to Action
It truly is time for a call to action. In the black community, our silence is deadly. Why? Well, because the criminals get to walk free anticipating our fear because we are scared? Ask yourself. Scared of what? You have to know that eventually, they are coming for you and/or or your family anyway; because NO ONE is going to say anything. Your silence allows them to live amongst you in your own community. What’s more. God has not given us a spirit of fear. We really do have power. On another note, we should exercise using a dedicated nontraceable anonymous line to call.
SIDEBAR: For God has not given us a spirit of fear, but of power and of love and of a sound mind” (2 Timothy 1:7). “God has told us over 100 times in His Word not to be afraid. He tells us not to fear because He is in control. He is our refuge and strength.”
Read the poem below, because you have to know that eventually, the criminals will come for you, and those you love.
First they came …
“First they came …” is the poetic form of a post-war confessional prose by the German Lutheran pastor Martin Niemöller (1892–1984). Read on,
First they came for the Communists
And I did not speak out
Because I was not a Communist
Then they came for the Socialists
And I did not speak out
Because I was not a Socialist
Then they came for the trade unionists
And I did not speak out
Because I was not a trade unionist
Then they came for the Jews
And I did not speak out
Because I was not a Jew
Then they came for me
And there was no one left
To speak out for me
The above statement and provocative poem attributed to Pastor Martin Niemöller
Let me put this another way and bring it home.
First they came for the Elderly
And I did not speak out
Because I was not elderly
Then they came for the Disabled
And I did not speak out
Because I was not disabled
Then they came for the women
And I did not speak out
Because I was not a women
Then they came for the Men and Children
And I did not speak out
Because I was a child
Then they came for me
And there was no one left
To speak out for me
If you are afraid to speak up, let home security speak for you.
As a community, we can share what our cameras pick up with the police, and our neighbors. If you are scared to speak up, you could share a criminal’s picture.
Let’s make our community flourish. Let’s keep our community safe. We got this Gary. Remember, silence is the criminal’s best friend. Don’t be the criminals’ best friend.
