ABOUT GARYSIDE

Garyside is an online Gary, Indiana community website and Hub. Garyside offers a platform that gives Gary residents alternative avenues to get involved in their community. In addition, Garyside offers news and/or informational resources. Garyside will initiate connections between residents/neighbors for the greater good of our community in an effort to combat the ills we face in our own community. Not only do Black lives matter, but Garyside knows that #garycommunitiesmatter.

Garyside will seek to strike a positive balance against the negative news we receive about our community. Garyside will strive to portray our community in a positive light, as well as get the support of the community in ushering in changing any negative and derogatory vibes that need to be dealt within our own community. Garyside will also keep the residents and surrounding areas informed as to what Gary has to offer, and what is going on in and around Gary. Garyside will also address the needs of the community through online community forums.

Garyside will address biased media platforms that slant the news unfavorably against Gary residents. Garyside will attempt to counteract news that is sensationalized to reinforce fears and stereotypes. As it stands, there are no consistent positive stories that depict the good in the community. Our positives are not their focal point, nor is our culture or well being. Garyside will feature resources and information on what is happening in and around Gary, as well as showcase Gary residents in a positive life.

THE COMMUNITY OF GARY…

Garyside will tap into the energy of the community in an effort to work in unison for positive changes within our community. Garyside will also keep the community abreast of what is going on in and around Gary. Garyside will showcase businesses, churches and organizations in the Business Directory. Garyside is a new and innovative way for Gary residents to connect.

Garyside offers a Business Directory, where Businesses and/or Organizations can post their businesses in an effort for residents to get a sense of the businesses in and around Indiana.
Garyside also offers a Missing Gary Children’s page, where you can view information on missing kids, and heaven forbid know the protocol if your Child comes up missing in Gary.
Garyside offers a platform for community forums.
Garyside offers a distinctive neighborhood section whereby neighbors can showcase matters pertaining to their neighborhoods. This in turn will ignite a closer connection and enhance neighborhood bonding, like back in the day.
Garyside offers Blog posting, and coming soon, Garyside will have contributing Blog posters.
Garyside will also put forth initiatives to reduce/eliminate crime within our communities.
Garyside offers a “submit news tips” section, and encourages the community to submit news tips.
