“Juneteenth (short for “June Nineteenth”) marks the day when federal troops arrived in Galveston, Texas in 1865 to take control of the state and ensure that all enslaved people be freed. The troops’ arrival came a full two and a half years after the signing of the Emancipation Proclamation. Juneteenth honors the end to slavery in the United States and is considered the longest-running African American holiday.”

It is something to think about. African Americans a/k/a Hebrews were stolen from the land, and enslaved, raped in the land of the free. Go figure and then these @@@@@@@ never told them for over two years. Juneteenth should always be a reminder of how far they will go. Yahweh bought our ancestors through the red sea from Egypt to the other side of Africa, and those Africans helped enslave them.

It’s the first documented arrival of enslaved Africans in an area that would go on to become part of the United States. They had been seized by English pirates off the coast of Mexico, from a Portuguese slave ship.
The US Congress has established a special commission to mark 400 years of African-American history this year.
