We have epidemics on so many levels, however, diabetes is an epidemic in African American communities. There are 4.9 million African Americans aged 20 years or older who have been diagnosed with diabetes. According to Centers for Disease Control (CDC) national survey data– African-Americans are 77% more likely to have been diagnosed with diabetes compared to people of no color.
